Alisha
Born in the city of Pittsburgh, Alisha grew up moving in and out of surrounding city areas, as far south as the Mon Valley. Eventually replanting herself back in Greenfield where her parents grew up.
Alisha’s journey behind the chair started in 2009, attending cosmetology school in West Mifflin, shortly after high school at the age of 18. After working at a high-end salon she didn’t connect with, she spent seven years grinding at a bustling chain salon. It was here that she quickly realized her passion wasn’t traditional salon work but the precision and craftsmanship of shorter cuts. During this time she gravitated toward men’s styles and short, gender-affirming cuts, building a loyal clientele who appreciated her skill with clean fades, and sharp tapers. While it was obvious her skills were beyond that of a chain salon, she also craved a more casual and laid back atmosphere that focused on community and people, where she could take her time to customize her work and to have real conversations with people. This is when the culture of the Barbershop began to call her home.
In 2018, Alisha switched gears, made a few radical life changes, and finally became a licensed barber. Since then she has been dedicated to creating a welcoming, laid back space where everyone can feel confident. Alisha has experience cutting all hair textures and especially enjoys fades, tapering, androgynous hairstyles, and customizing each cut to work with individual texture and density.
